CLPPC 702 - The Child, Youth and Family in Healthcare (2016)

As part of my employment with the Learning Technologies Lab, I worked with Dr. Sarah Patterson and Dr. Peter Rosenbaum to develop videos for their CLPPC 702: The Child, Youth and Family in Healthcare course. Responsibilities included the shooting, editing, and deployment of videos to the course shell. In addition, I provided technical course support to the instructors.

Course Summary

This course examines the conceptual nature of family systems, specifically parent-child/youth relations, and sibling relationships. Topics to be addressed include what constitutes ‘family’, the conceptual basis of health and functioning, developmental concepts of illness, psychological preparation for procedures, adolescent transitions in healthcare, and evaluation of evidence for delivering enhanced psychosocial care using a patient and family-centred care model. Interprofessional teamwork and collaboration will be examined. This is a 14 week course that includes recorded lectures by the course instructors and guest lecturers, followed by keyquestions, case studies and/or video clips for group discussion within Avenue to Learn discussion boards each week. One real-time interactive online session will also be an expectation
